History Of Our Company

Patient Education

November 1, 1971 I opened my first office on the second floor of the Kreb's Building (now the Alford Building) on South First Street in Newark. That office had only three rooms and 650 square feet. We eventually saw 210 patients in a week in that little office. My mother was my receptionist. She did such a good job that after six months I started paying her and she worked for me for six years before retiring.

Over the next ten years we moved to the East End of Newark and our practice grew with referrals from as far away as Chicago, Illinois. There came a time when I was seeing 90 to 120 patients a day and trying to help Judy raise our seven children. In 1981 I realized I must make a decision. I must either get help or get smaller. I spent three months making this decision. I even went and looked at smaller offices. The thought of turning away patients was not a thought I could live with; therefore I decided to search for quality doctors that could continue the type of quality, up-to-date, caring service that we had the reputation for.

After that decision, I brought in Dr. Amy Coble. Dr. Amy had been a patient of mine and had decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic. She was practicing in west Newark when I convinced her to join us in 1982. My son, Dr. Gregg Mantonya, says he never wanted to be anything but a Chiropractor and opened the Hebron Office in 2000.  We have been very fortunate to have had many other great doctors and staff members help us over the last many years. These doctors and staff members helped us build Ohio's largest Chiropractic Practice.

We have always had the attitude that you get back what you give; therefore we have worked to support many local charities over the years. Some of these have been LEADS, Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Kid's Day America, calling cards for local troops in Iraq and of course the Food Pantry. We became involved with the Food Pantry the first year they did their annual drive and have been one of their biggest contributors each year. This is because of the generous support of our patients and the community. Thank you for your great support of our efforts.
